Verification basics

Updated over a week ago

How do I verify my account?

We’ll try to verify your account electronically when you sign up. If we can’t, we’ll email you to request documents. Until your account is verified, you won’t be able to deposit or play.

For account verification, we may ask for:

Proof of identity (one of the following):

  • Passport

  • UK Driving Licence

  • Non-UK Driving Licence

  • National ID card

  • UK CitizenCard

  • UK Residence Permit

Proof of address (showing your name and current address):

  • Utility bill dated within 3 months (not a mobile bill)

  • Council Tax statement (within 12 months)

  • Official government letter such as HMRC (within 3 months)

  • Home or motor insurance document (within 3 months)

  • Mortgage statement (within 12 months)

  • Bank or financial institution letter (within 3 months)

If your driving licence shows your current address, it can cover both proof of identity and proof of address.

To upload your documents, log in and go to your Verification tab.

Make sure all four corners are visible and the documents are in date. We’ll review your account verification as quickly as possible.

Why did I not pass the electronic verification check?

If you haven’t passed the electronic verification check, it usually means we couldn’t automatically match your details with the information available to us.

First things first, double-check the details you entered when signing up. Even one incorrect letter or number can stop the check from working. If something doesn’t match, you’ll need to upload documents so we can update your details. You can do that here.

If everything looks correct, it’s usually a data timing issue. Sometimes the records we check against are slightly out of date. If you’ve recently moved, changed your name, or updated your details elsewhere, the system might not recognise you yet.

When that happens, you’ll see options to complete verification another way.

You may be able to use ClearStake (Open Banking). This securely shares your personal details from your bank so we can verify you in minutes. Your bank will ask you to log in and confirm that you’re happy to share the information.

You can also upload documents. This option is always available. Upload proof of identity and proof of address (a driving licence often covers both) and our team will review them as soon as possible.

Sometimes the system just needs a human check. Upload the documents and we’ll take it from there.
