Source of Funds

Guide to Source of Funds and affordability checks, including accepted income documents and ClearStake verification

Updated over a week ago

Why have I been asked for Source of Funds documents?

A Source of Funds request means we need to understand how you’re funding your play.

As a UK-licensed operator, we’re required to carry out Source of Funds checks from time to time. It’s part of making sure gambling is affordable and that the money used on site is legitimate.

If we’ve contacted you, we’ll explain what documents we need. This can include things like payslips, bank statements, or other proof of income.

While we review your Source of Funds documents, deposits or withdrawals may be paused. If we don’t receive the requested information, your account may remain restricted.

We will only ask for what’s necessary, keep your information secure, and review everything as quickly as possible.

You can read more about why these checks happen on the Gambling Commission website here.

For details on accepted documents, see here.

What documents can I use to prove my income?

To prove your income, we’ll ask for documents that show how you fund your play.

We’ll usually need:

• Proof of income based on your situation and occupation
• A recent bank statement (PDF)
• A photo of any payment methods you’ve used with us recently

You can send everything to [email protected] once it’s ready.

What we ask for depends on your circumstances.

What is ClearStake and how does it work?

ClearStake is a secure way to verify your financial information using open banking.

Open banking means you choose to share specific information directly from your bank. We can’t see anything unless you give permission.

When you use ClearStake, you log in to your online banking and approve the request. Your bank then securely shares the relevant information with us.

ClearStake is powered by Nuapay, an FCA-authorised payment institution (registration number 624067).

Here’s how it works:

  • You select ClearStake when asked to verify your finances.

  • You log in to your online banking.

  • Your bank asks you to confirm that you’re happy to share the information.

  • Once approved, the connection is secure and automatic.

You can connect more than one bank account if needed.

We use ClearStake to help make sure gambling is affordable and safe. We only access the information required for that purpose.

Why should I use ClearStake?

We’ve asked you to use ClearStake to complete an affordability check.

By law, we need to make sure gambling is affordable and that funds used are legitimate. That’s part of UK licensing and anti–money laundering rules.

ClearStake is a quicker way to do this using secure open banking.

If you’d prefer not to use it, you can provide documents instead. Just let us know and we’ll guide you.
